Going Global: When and How?
To clients of translation services.  Why did you decide to go multi-lingual in your product literature or in your outreach to clients?  Why did you do it?  How did you select translators?  What was your experience with the translators or translation service?  How was your multi-language effort received by the target audience?  In summary, how big a hassle was it, and was it worth the price?

The answers to these and similar questions will help to begin to rate the services and will provide some guidance for others following in your wake.  Companies do go global, and it will be interesting to see if any report warning signs from their experience.

Great questions and I look forward to what others, do here Matt. Because I speak in so many countries -- with more languages than I can spell much less speak I use international translators who translate as I speak rather than after each phrase. It works quite well. Often there are amazing linguists in my audience who will help with nuances, and since I speak about how the brain works best, some terms get lost in trasnlation. That can be a bit frustrating, but the practical application I make from theory into practical applications coome out very well and I often see my work mysteriously translated in many languages. Who does that? It's all part of stuff that hides in cyberspace and makes one wonder where we are all headed in these fast paced lanes! Thanks for all you are sharing -- good stuff!

Here are some other questions that buyers need to consider in order to avoid frustration and lost time:

Do you have several divisions that buy translation (legal, marketing, web site, etc.)? Do the in-house buyers communicate with each other?

Can you consolidate the buying process into one entity?

Do you really have qualifed reviewers and review processes for signing off on all of your various language versions?

There are more questions, but these get the message across....
